Diplomas & graduation

Parent-issued diploma and transcript recognized. State does not issue public school diploma to homeschoolers. High School Equivalency (HSE) Diploma available via GED exam. Some districts may permit Regents exams at superintendent's discretion; however, passing Regents exams does not entitle a homeschooled student to a Regents diploma.

Parent-created. No state template. Detailed transcripts with course descriptions recommended for college admissions.

College admissions

SUNY and CUNY systems have specific homeschool admissions processes. Community college enrollment also an option.

Extracurricular access

New York does not currently have a law guaranteeing homeschool students access to public school extracurricular activities. Some districts may allow participation on a case-by-case basis.
